Accessibility
Accessibility statement: WCAG 2.2 AA compliance status, non-accessible content, contact and remedies.
The Embassy of Burkina Faso in India is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, whatever their hardware, software or abilities, in line with the international WCAG 2.2 guidelines (level AA).
Compliance status
The website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. An internal audit carried out on 18 October 2026 (axe-core and Lighthouse, main pages in French and English, desktop and mobile) identified the points listed below, which are being fixed.
What has been done
- Full keyboard navigation, skip link to the content, visible focus indicator.
- Explicit heading structure, landmarks and form labels; error messages linked to their fields.
- Colour contrast compliant with level AA for text and components.
- Alternative text on informative images; decorative images ignored by screen readers.
- Click areas of at least 24 pixels, respect of the “reduce motion” preference, 200 % zoom without loss of content.
- Information popups and bars that can be closed with the keyboard, with the choice remembered.
Non-accessible content
- Some downloadable PDF forms are scanned documents that cannot be read by a screen reader. The consular section can send them in another format on request.
- The interactive map (Google Maps) is not fully usable with the keyboard; the address and a textual directions link are provided next to it.
Technologies used
HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript (progressive enhancement: the website works without JavaScript), WAI-ARIA. Tested with Chrome and Firefox, the NVDA screen reader, axe-core 4 and Lighthouse 12.
