Ordinary Burkinabè passports are issued by the Directorate General of the National Police, through its Migration Division. Nationals residing in the Embassy's jurisdiction prepare their file with the documents listed in the Required documents tab and submit it to the consular section.

Fees and processing time

Issuance fee: 50,000 FCFA, plus a 200 FCFA fiscal stamp.
Processing time: 72 working hours when the file is complete and in order. If passport booklets run short, this time may vary depending on urgency.

Ask the consular section about the payment arrangements.

Avoid intermediaries: come to the consular section in person to submit your application and collect your passport.

Loss or Theft of Passport

In case of loss or theft of your passport, you must immediately file a report with local police and then contact the Embassy with the police report to begin the replacement process.

Passport application form duly completed, with biometric fingerprints
1 birth certificate extract or certified copy, or the supplementary judgment replacing it
1 certified copy of the Burkinabè nationality certificate
1 certified copy of the CNIB (national identity card) or of the consular identity card (CIC)
1 valid criminal record extract (less than three months old)
3 passport-size ID photos, front-facing on a white background (4.5 × 3.5 cm)
1 document proving your profession (employment certificate or certified copy)
1 fiscal stamp of 200 FCFA
Issuance fee: 50,000 FCFA

Married women who wish to bear their husband's name on the passport add to the documents required from adult applicants:

1 certified copy of the marriage certificate
1 certified copy of the spouse's identity document

Application form duly completed (without fingerprints)
1 birth certificate extract of the child
1 nationality certificate of the child
3 passport-size ID photos
Parental authorization
Copy of both parents' identity documents (if the child lives in Burkina Faso)
If the child lives outside Burkina Faso: copy of both parents' residence permits; parental authorization is then not required
School certificate or enrollment attestation
1 fiscal stamp of 200 FCFA and the 50,000 FCFA issuance fee

In addition to the documents required from adult applicants, attach a certificate of presence in the corps (certificat de présence au corps) stating that a passport is to be issued.
