The Embassy of Burkina Faso in India (F-2/4, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi 110057) is responsible for the processing of personal data on this website. This page explains which data is collected, why, for how long, and what your rights are.
Data collected and purposes
- Contact form: name, e-mail address, subject and message. Purpose: answering your request.
- Appointment booking: name, e-mail, phone, service, date, time slot, number of people, optional message. Purpose: organising the consular counter, sending your confirmation and letting you change or cancel.
- Consular registration: identity, date and place of birth, type of nationality document (without its number), address and situation in the country of residence, contact details, emergency contact. Purpose: keeping the register of nationals, consular assistance and protection, information in an emergency.
- Announcement proposal: name, e-mail, phone, announcement text and optional attachment. Purpose: moderation and publication in the Announcements section.
- Newsletter: e-mail address. Purpose: sending the Embassy's notices and information.
- Technical logs: IP address, pages visited, browser, timestamp, kept for the security and proper operation of the website.
No payment is made on this website and no banking data is collected. Never send a passport or identity card number through the forms: these are recorded at the counter.
Legal basis
Processing is based on the public-interest missions entrusted to the Embassy (Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963) and, for the newsletter and announcements, on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
Retention periods
- Contact messages: 90 days after the reply.
- Appointment requests: 12 months (attendance statistics), then deletion.
- Consular registrations: the declared length of stay, then 2 years.
- Announcement proposals: 6 months after the publication decision.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Technical logs: 12 months.
Recipients
Data is processed by authorised Embassy staff. It is neither sold nor transferred. It may be communicated to the competent authorities of Burkina Faso where the law requires it or to ensure your consular protection.
Hosting and security
The website is hosted on secured servers; exchanges are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to the administration is protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. Backups are encrypted and kept for 14 days.
Cookies and local storage
The website uses no tracking or analytics cookie. A session cookie is created only for logged-in staff. Your browser remembers locally that you closed an information banner so that it is not shown again. See the Cookies page.
Your rights
Under Law No. 001-2021/AN of 30 March 2021 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data in Burkina Faso, you have a right of access, rectification, objection and erasure. To exercise it, write to amba.newdelhi@diplomatie.gov.bf or by post to the Embassy, with proof of identity. You may also refer the matter to the Commission de l'informatique et des libertés (CIL) of Burkina Faso.
