Overview
The consular identity card (CIC) is an official document issued by a diplomatic mission or consular post of Burkina Faso abroad. It bears the identity of its holder and allows any Burkinabè national to prove their identity, nationality and residence within the mission's jurisdiction, and to benefit from that mission's consular protection when needed.
The Embassy issues it to nationals residing in its jurisdiction: India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, the Maldives, Timor-Leste and Nepal.
It is valid for 5 years and must be renewed upon expiry. It is required for most consular procedures, including passport applications.
