A visa is the authorization granted to a foreign national to enter Burkina Faso and stay there lawfully for the period granted. It takes the form of a stamp or a sticker affixed to the applicant's passport.

Ordinary passports: apply and pay online

Holders of an ordinary passport submit their visa application themselves, online, on the official portal www.visaburkina.bf. The portal handles the whole procedure and lets you pay the visa fee directly through a secure electronic wallet.

Diplomatic and service passports, United Nations laissez-passer

These applications are handled by the Embassy:

Download the application form (Forms tab), fill it in completely, then date and sign it.
Gather the required documents (Required documents tab).
Book an appointment online to submit your file at the consular section.
Pay any applicable fee (Fees tab) when you submit the file.
Collect your passport with the visa at the Embassy; the processing time is confirmed when you submit.

A passport valid for more than six (6) months after the end of the stay
A photocopy of the passport
The application form, completed in full, dated and signed
One 4.5 × 3.5 cm ID photo on a white background (no photocopy or scanned photo)
Proof of travel: copy of the flight ticket and, as applicable, mission order, letter of financial support, employment or accommodation certificate, hotel booking or verbal note
A copy of the vaccination card (in particular yellow fever)
